This Lil’ Piggy handcrafts ceramic tiles that feature hand and foot impressions.  Each tile is made with the intent to capture a moment in time; which is truly a gift when you consider how quickly weeks turn into months, and months  into years when you are raising children!  Like a treasured family photo, these tiles have the ability to take you back in time.  They remind you to appreciate the simple things about your children, even something as simple as their one month old footprints!  Your child’s unique tile will make you smile every time you look at it-  that is my promise to you! 

My name is Lisa.  My husband, Peter, and I live in Grosse Pointe Farms, Michigan.  We have been blessed with 3 wonderful kids and one very fluffy dog!  I started this business in January 2002 and have made over 4,500 tiles to date.  I work out of my home studio and also go on location.  I have run This Lil’ Piggy events at various home shows, parties, play groups, holiday boutiques, schools and children’s stores.  I also donate my services to dozens of school auctions every year.

Most of my work involves making impression tiles for children of all ages.  They feature hand and/or foot prints that I capture in non-toxic, art grade clay.  The tiles include the child’s name and age, as well as decorative embellishments.  My youngest clients are under one week old!  And I have printed a number of teenagers, parents and grandparents too!  My newest venture is getting animal prints!  I also create other keepsake products, which you will find on this site.

A typical day at my home studio looks like this. . .   I schedule appointments every half hour.  Siblings and friends are welcome to join in the fun since my studio is attached to a playroom!  While you pick your favorite tile style, I get the clay ready.  Then I get the impressions, often in under a minute.  Most customers are shocked at how quickly I get the job done!  The rest of the time is spent picking out your favorite color and decorations!   After I receive payment (cash or check), you’re all set and off you go!!  However, my work isn’t done yet.  The tile still needs to be trimmed, stamped, decorated and fired for almost 9 hours.  Then it is glazed and fired for another 6 hours.  Now the finishing work can be done, which includes the hanging installation and packaging.  This process takes 4 – 6 weeks to complete.  Finally, you will get a call that your tile is ready for pick up.
